I Do Bridal Magazine – August 2020 (No. 81)

While just a couple of months ago no one knew where we were, now couples whose weddings had to be cancelled or postponed are picking up the lists again and looking forward once more to their big day.

We’re also sure that there are now other couples who hadn’t previously thought seriously about getting married, but who realise that, now, this is exactly what they want to do – with the person who means everything to them.

With all this in mind, there is no time to lose. Competition is stepping up for the ideal venues. As far as possible, caterers will want to honour previous clients’ arrangements, as well as new ones. If travel opens up enough guests from overseas will need to plan and honeymoons can be dreamt of once again.

Disappointing as it may have been, changing your wedding could have some advantages, like being able to sort out any niggling doubts you might have had about certain arrangements or details.

You may find yourself rethinking the whole event in the light of present circumstances, and changing your theme entirely. Some couples will aim for bigger the better, others may choose to downsize their ambitions but bring in more personal elements and themes to mark their day.

If you decide to choose a completely different time of year to marry remember that everything from textures, colours and catering to locations and light levels will look very different from what you already had in mind.

I DO magazine will be following developments and talking to providers and organisers so we can bring you plenty of ideas and information to inspire your wedding plans.

Because we know that now, whatever directions weddings take in the coming months, or years, they will never mean more to the couples who are about to say ‘I do’.
